The european campaign of Igor Volley Novara in the 2016 Cev Denizbank Champions League will start on october 28 in Istanbul, with Pedullà and his girls challenging the strong Vakifbank (where the former Igor player Kim Hill now plays) at 7 pm local time (6 pm in Italy). Couple of days ago, the CEV officially appointed the dates and timings of the preliminary pool games and Igor Volley will play all the three home games on Wednesday night at 8.30 pm, while in Sopot and in Ljubjana Igor will play on Thursday, respectively at 6 pm and at 8 pm local time (same time in Italy).

Meanwhile, the team keep working under the guidance of its mentor, Luciano Pedullà, who joined the team thanks to a “break” of the activity with the Germany National Team. On Tuesday September 8th the first scrimmage is appointed: Igor Volley will match Settimo Torinese, that soon will debut in the A2 league for the first time in its history. The match will start at 5 pm at Pala Terdoppio and on Friday 11th the teams will meet again in Settimo Torinese for a second scrimmage.

After starting the preparation with just three of the fourteen players from the senior team, Novara lately welcomed also the setter Francesca Bosio and the opposite Magdalena Wawrzyniak. Bosio joined the team after having achieved a sixth place at the under 23 World Championships with the Italian national team, while Wawrzyniak arrived after having played the European League with Poland. “It’s great to be here, in such a wonderful and important club – says Wawrzyniak – and I know that it will be a tough and hard season but I am happy and ready. It’s my first season abroad and I want to improve as a player and, of course, achieve the best results with my new team”.

On September 17th and September 24th, Igor Volley will have a double scrimmage with Chieri (A2 team). The first game will be played in Novara (Pala Terdoppio) starting at 5.30 pm and the second game is appointed in Chieri (Pala Maddalene).

“We still miss a lot of players but fortunately we could work well involving the girls from our junior teams – says Daniele Adami, assistant coach of Luciano Pedullà – and even if Luciano is not always with us, we communicate daily and he gives us all his attention. Now it’s time for some friendly matches, it will be interesting to see how girls are improving but obviously we will be able to understand the value of this team only when all our players will be with us”.
